What I do and don't like
I like the first radio show chat and the music, but I don't like the branding. The charity shop CD's idea seems a bit boring to me, plus with lockdown they are all shut at the moment and so I can't visit them.
I have a huge collections of CD's I own and play (loudly) when driving little Vera (my darling Honda Jazz) and I think that I can use those to get me through my next few shows. I want my radio show to reflect me and what I love. Music is one of my greatest passions and I don't think that shows in the branding / marketing, and that needs to change.
I enjoyed presenting the show, but I think I need to plan more about what I am going to say. I love talking and engaging people but working off the cuff meant I didn't always pick the best story or the right music. For my next shows I am going to change it up and focus on what I love, because that excitement and joy will come over in my presenting style, and make the radio show more powerful in its delivery.
Reflecting on my strengths, I realise I love communicating with people. I was thrilled when my tutor remarked on my ability to make day to day tales interesting. This needs to be my focus going forward and it needs to be reflected in my my marketing and branding for the show - i need to sell myself as much as the show.
Plan
-
Change name and branding to something more exciting that reflects who I am and what I represent.
-
Plan topics for radio shows - themes that bring the music choices together and sum up that episode in a few words.
-
Create a list of themes that can then be whittled down to the best choices for the proceeding shows.
-
Plan those shows -music, possible links, stories about the songs / song choice.
